(Uses)

Tools I reach for.

Inspired by /uses sites everywhere. The setup that gets me through 8+ hours of deep work every day.

Hardware

(01)

MacBook Pro 16" M3 Max

64GB RAM, 2TB SSD. The most reliable machine I've owned. Compiles our Rust monorepo in 90 seconds.

Apple Studio Display

27" 5K Retina. The text clarity is unmatched. Pairs with the MacBook for a dual-screen setup.

LG 27UP850 (secondary)

Vertical orientation for terminal + docs. Cheap, reliable, 4K. Perfect for the third pane.

Apple Magic Trackpad

I tried every mouse on the market. Came back to the trackpad — the gestures are irreplaceable.

Keychron K1 Pro

Low-profile mechanical, brown switches. Quiet enough for calls, tactile enough for long sessions.

AirPods Pro 2

For calls. The transparency mode is so good I forget I'm wearing them.

Sony WH-1000XM5

For deep work. Noise cancellation that lets me forget the world exists.

Editor & Terminal

(02)

Cursor

VS Code fork with AI baked in. I use it for everything now. Cmd+K is muscle memory.

JetBrains Mono

My font everywhere. Ligatures on, 14px, line height 1.6. The only font I've used for 3 years.

Ghostty

Mitchell Hashimoto's terminal. Fast, GPU-accelerated, beautiful. Replaced iTerm2 + Alacritty + Kitty.

zsh + Starship

Minimal prompt. Shows git status, language version, and nothing else. No bloat.

tmux

Three panes: editor, server logs, terminal. Always. The discipline saves context switches.

nvim (for pairing)

When I'm on someone else's machine. Pre-configured kickstart.nvim. 30 seconds to feel at home.

Apps

(03)

Raycast

Replaces Spotlight. Window manager, clipboard history, snippets, AI chat. The hub of my workflow.

Linear

Issue tracker. Clean, fast, keyboard-first. I've tried them all — Linear wins.

Figma

Design + handoff. I prototype in Figma before writing a line of code.

Obsidian

Personal knowledge base. Markdown files in a git repo. Synced via iCloud. Mine forever.

Arc Browser

Replaced Chrome. Spaces for contexts (work, personal, research). Cmd+T to switch.

1Password

Every password is generated, every login is unique. The single best security decision I've made.

Desk Setup

(04)

Uplift V2 Standing Desk

Stand for 4 hours, sit for 4. The motorized transition is silent on calls.

Herman Miller Embody

Best chair I've owned. 8+ hours of sitting with zero back pain. Worth every dirham.

BenQ ScreenBar Halo

Monitor light bar. No glare, no eye strain. The single upgrade I recommend to everyone.

Logitech Brio 4K

Webcam. The built-in MacBook camera is fine, but clients notice the difference on calls.

Shure MV7

USB/XLR podcast mic. Sound like a podcast host on every call. No more 'you sound muffled'.
